Village Style Chutney

Many South Indian breakfast dishes is often accompanied with a chutney. There are literally hundreds of chutneys. The most popular of these are coconut or tomato. The one that I am posting today is very unusual and delectable. Frankly, I did not expect it to be so tasty. And really easy to prepare. If you are into new taste experiences, then you should definitely try this. And it is customisable – as spicy or mild to suit your taste. Please do try it and post

Ingredients
3 ripe tomatoes
3 jalapeño chilies, slit
1 pod garlic
3/4 tsp cumin powder
Unrefined salt to taste
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander
Method
Roast the tomatoes on low flame till they are evenly burnt on all sides
The skin should turn black
Transfer to a plate and cool completely
Repeat the process for the chilies and garlic pod
The garlic pod should be separated once cooled
Peel the burnt skin from the tomatoes, jalapeños and garlic
Transfer to a bowl and mash well
Add cumin powder, coriander leaves and salt
Mix well
Serve with breakfast dishes like dosa, idli or any other
